Η Ρωσία έχει προκαλέσει οργή στην Πολωνία με την προσομοίωση μίας πυρηνικής επίθεσης από τον αέρα, κατά τη διάρκεια στρατιωτικών ασκήσεων των ενόπλων δυνάμεων της Ρωσίας και της Λευκορωσίας. Με μια ανακάμπτουσα Μόσχα, οι χώρες της Κεντρικής και της Ανατολικής Ευρώπης έχουν προειδοποιήσει για τη θέσπιση εκ μέρους της Ρωσίας μιας νεο-ιμπεριαλιστικής στάσης σε μια περιοχή του κόσμου που εξακολουθεί να θεωρείται από το Κρεμλίνο ως σφαίρα επιρροής της. Σύμφωνα με ανώτατους αξιωματούχους της Πολωνίας, η Ρωσία προωθεί στην ημερήσια διάταξη του 21ου αιώνα την αναθεωρητική πολιτική του 19ου αιώνα.
Σύμφωνα με πηγές από την Πολωνία, οι ρωσικές ένοπλες δυνάμεις λέγεται ότι έχουν πραγματοποιήσει «παιχνίδια πολέμου» με την κωδική ονομασία «Δύση» με πυρηνικές δυνάμεις και με μία αμφίβια επίθεση στις ακτές της χώρας. Η ρωσική πολεμική αεροπορία ασκήθηκε στη χρήση όπλων από το πυρηνικό της οπλοστάσιο, ενώ στο ρωσικό θύλακα του Καλίνινγκραντ, ο οποίος συνορεύει με την Πολωνία, οι δυνάμεις του «Κόκκινου Στρατού» εισέβαλαν σε «πολωνική» παραλία πραγματοποιώντας μια αμφίβια επιχείρηση, με στόχο την καταστροφή αγωγού φυσικού αερίου. Το άλλο σκέλος της άσκησης αφορούσε την προσομοίωση καταστολής μιας εξέγερσης από μια εθνική μειονότητα στην επικράτεια της Λευκορωσία – η χώρα έχει μια σημαντική πολωνική μειονότητα στο έδαφός της. Στις συγκεκριμένες δραστηριότητες έλαβαν μέρος μεταφορικά και επιθετικά ελικόπτερα.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της δεύτερης φάσης των στρατιωτικών ασκήσεων με την κωδική ονομασία «Zapad 2009» (Δύση 2009), είχαν συμμετάσχει 65 περίπου στρατιωτικά αεροσκάφη και 40 ελικόπτερα, μεταξύ αυτών τα τακτικά βομβαρδιστικά τύπου Su-24M2 και τα στρατηγικά βομβαρδιστικά τύπου Tu-22M3 Backfire. Στις συγκεκριμένς δραστηριότητες οι οποίες ολοκληρώθηκαν στις 29 Σεπτεμβρίου, τα ρωσικά αεροσκάφη χρησιμοποίησαν μια νέας γενιάς πυρομαχικών ακριβείας (PGM). Οι ρωσικές πηγές που επικαλείται το Jane’s σημειώνουν ότι για πρώτη φορά τα Su-24M2 και τα Tu-22M3 χρησιμοποίησαν το σύστημα στόχευσης SVP-24. Αυτό δείχνει ότι η πολεμική αεροπορία της Ρωσίας εισάγει στο δυναμικό της κατευθυνόμενες βόμβες «JDAM», περίπου 15 χρόνια μετά την πρώτη εξάσκηση στο όπλα από τις στρατιωτικές δυνάμεις των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών. Η αρχική δοκιμή με το SVP-24 χρονολογείται από τα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 1990, αλλά μόλις σήμερα έχει ενσωματωθεί σε ενεργά στρατιωτικά αεροσκάφη.
Το SVP-24 (Spetsializirovannaya Vychislitelnaya Podsystema) είναι μέρος ενός συστήματος όπλων που αναπτύχθηκε από τη ρωσική εταιρεία Gefest IT. Το SVP-24 αναπτύχθηκε αρχικά για το Su-24, αλλά έκτοτε οι διάφορες υποεκδόσεις του, όπως το SVP-24-22 εφαρμόζονται και σε μια σειρά άλλων αεροσκαφών, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του Tu-22M3. Το SVP-24 έχει σχεδιαστεί ειδικά για να κατευθύνει τα όπλα μέσω δορυφόρου και σύμφωνα με τον κατασκευαστή μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί είτε με το ρωσικό δορυφορικό σύστημα πλοήγησης GLONASS, είτε με το GPS των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών. Με το σύστημα SVP-24 τα πυρηνικά όπλα των αεροσκαφών μπορούν να πλήξουν με μεγάλη ακρίβεια τον όποιο στόχο.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
